The Sarsys Surface Trailer Friction Tester (STFT) has been a success on the market since it was released in 2003, the same principle as the SVFT and SFT most of the components are the same. The STFT are balanced / weighted for perfect repeatability of the full measurements length on runway, taxiways, roads and highway.
BASIC PRINCIPLE AND GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The measuring system is the famous SARSYS Single Transmission system used in the SARSYS Surface Friction Tester and built into the SAAB 9-5. It is primarily designed for friction measuring on airport runways and taxiways, but can also be used for measuring on roads. The STFT is programmed to measure in accordance with regulations issued by authorities such as ICAO and FAA and designed for both operational and maintenance measuring. The system consists of a measuring wheel which is mechanically geared to the right hand wheel on the trailer. The gear ratio is such that, when travelling along the runway the measuring wheel cannot follow the runway surface freely, but rolls with a certain slip.
MEASURING COMPUTER SYSTEM
The STMC measuring computer system that is a standard laptop (Touchscreen) windows based system have unlimited storage of measuring data, All data are handled by one computer system for analyzing, reporting, sending or storing measuring data. The connection is wireless (peer to peer) or wired to suit the customers need. The STFT is using wireless as standard.
SELF WATERING SYSTEM
The self watering system on the STFT is build-into the chassis of the unit. This means that you do not need to have a extra water tank on the towing vehicle. You have it all in one unit. In this way you do not need any cables or hoses from the STFT to the host car. You can use the available towing vehicle quick and easy without any connection of cables and hoses.
